Brazil advocates solution that respects Crimeans' choice

Speaking alongside 's Foreign Affairs Minister, Laurent Fabius, Figueiredo observed that the Ukrainians should talk to each other to make a decision and urged the other countries involved to exercise restraint. The Brazilian minister is in to discuss bilateral issues.
Brazilian Foreign Minister Luiz Alberto Figueiredo declared while in a visit in Paris on Wednesday (Mar. 19) that his country deplores all olence and advocates a negotiated settlement for Crimea's crisis that respects the Ukrainian people and their choice. “Ukraine is a friendly country, and we are watching closely and ing the efforts by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to find a solution to the problem”.
According to the French minister, Brazil and take similar positions concerning Ukraine's situation and expect that Russia, Ukraine and the other countries involved can engage in a dialogue.
Fabius pointed out that the referendum in Crimea is in violation of Ukraine's constitution. The French government has proposed sending observers and entering an agreement whereby they promise not to use military forces in the conflict.
