Bolsonaro confirmed to attend Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral

The ceremony will take place in London on September 19

President Jair Bolsonaro has confirmed his presence at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in London next Monday (Sep 19).

“The invitation to the ceremony was forwarded on Saturday night (10) to the Embassy of Brazil in London. When consulted on Sunday morning (11), the president ordered the Foreign Ministry to respond positively to the invitation,” an official note reads.

From there, Bolsonaro should fly directly to New York, where he is expected to take part in the opening ceremony of the 77th United Nations General Assembly. The event is scheduled for September 20. Traditionally, the speech delivered by the Brazilian president opens the conference.

Queen Elizabeth II ed away last Thursday (8) aged 96 at Balmoral Palace, in Scotland. On the same day, Bolsonaro decreed three days of official mourning. On the occasion, the Brazilian president said she was “a queen for all of us.”
