Senator Aécio Neves talked Wedneday (Apr. 27) with vice-President Michel Temer about an emergency agenda for the country, to be adopted in case the impeachment case against President Dilma Rousseff is approved by the Senate, which would cause the head of state to step aside for 180 days.

National president of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB), Neves, defeated as presidential hopeful in 2014, stated he prefers all from his party to a possible Temer istration to be limited to Congress, but did not rule out the possibility that his fellow PSDB take up cabinet positions in case Michel Temer steps up as president in Rousseff's place.

“We're not going to pose obstacles to his attempt to create a solid cabinet, but we have not, at any moment, offered our to this emergency agenda for Brazil in exchange for participation in the government,” Aécio said.

The senator said that PSDB leaders such as former President Fernando Henrique Cardoso and São Paulo Governor Geraldo Alckmin have publicly stated they do not oppose fellow party ' taking part in a possible PMDB-led government. Senator José Serra is among those eyed to head a ministry.

The emergency agenda drawn up by the PSDB is set to be launched next Tuesday and includes, among other topics, the continuation of Operation Car Wash, which probes into wrongdoings at the state-controlled oil giant Petrobras, and the reduction in the number of ministries.
