Several problems arisen after the heavy rains that have lashed the state since last weekend
President Dilma Rousseff offered Monday (Jun 9) the of the federal government to the state of Paraná in facing the problems arisen after the heavy rains that have lashed the state since last weekend. The announcement was made during a telephone conversation between Rousseff and Paraná Governor Carlos Alberto Richa.

Many children were forced out of their homes.
“We’ll give all the necessary to help rescue and shelter those who were forced out of their homes. We wish to make our presence felt by the [population] at this difficult moment,” the president announced. She ordered the minister of National Integration to go to Paraná to spearhead the operations conducted by the Civil Defense, the National Health Force and the Army’s Engineer Battalion.
The storms that hit Paraná have left nine dead, blocked highways and affected over 55 thousand people throughout the state. According to data from the state’s Civil Defense, state of emergency has been declared in 70 cities. The state’s central region was the one most severely swept by the weather.
The state government reports that $2.69 million has been allocated to municipalities for the purchase of vaccines, medication and the recruitment of health professionals.
