The Federal Supreme Court (STF) confirmed today (14) the individual decisions of Minister Rosa Weber that suspended changes made by the National Council for the Environment (Conama) in the rules on the delimitation of permanent protection areas on the coast and around dams.

With Rosa Weber's decision, the resolutions that established protection strips around reservoirs and salt marshes and mangroves came into effect.

Last year, the minister upheld three actions filed by opposition parties that challenged the changes. For Rosa Weber, the new rules violated the Constitution by failing to provide adequate protection for the environment.

Before reaching the STF, the resolutions were disputed at the Federal Court.
