New Year's Eve in Rio de Janeiro sells out metro tickets

Of the 158 thousand special cards put on sale by MetrôRio for New Year's Eve in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, about 70 thousand have already been sold. The busiest time - from 9 pm to 10 pm - is already sold out of one-way tickets, but for this period there are still tickets for both ways.

For those who intend to go to Copacabana on the night of the 31st next, Metro directs attention to the quantity available for ticket sales and recommends, also, advance purchase only at Carioca/Centro station.

Special cards

The New Year's Eve Operation will begin at 7pm on the 31st and end at 5am on January 1st. During the period only special cards can be used because other cards will only be valid until 6:59pm.

For those who live or work in the region there will be an exception in Siqueira Campos/Copacabana, Cantagalo/Copacabana and General Osório/Ipanema stations, where they will be accepted until midnight on January 1st.
