Daylight Saving Time ends in Brazil next Sunday (Feb. 16). Clocks should be turned one hour back in states of the South, Southeast, and Central-West regions.
The current DST season started on October 20. The government expects energy savings of 0.5% throughout the overall power network and 4.5%-5% at peak energy-intensive hours. The special time setting provides the additional benefit of reducing the use of power generated at thermoelectric plants, which is more expensive and more polluting.
Daylight saving time was first implemented in Brazil in the summer 1931-1932.
