Brazilians' fear of unemployment rose 5.4% in June from March, thus reaching the highest level since September 1999. Figures can be found in a survey entitled Index on Fear of Unemployment Index (IMD, in the original Portuguese acronym), released by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI).
Compared to June last year, the figure saw a surge of 36.8%. In a December-March analysis, the index increased 32.1%. According to CNI, indicators reveal that people's expectations regarding the labor market are still on the wane.
Another rate, the Index on Satisfaction with Life (ISV), shows a 1% improvement from March. CNI, however, deems the rise not enough to reverse the current falling trend. In the comparison with June, 2014, a decline of 7.3% is recorded.
Indicators highlight the deterioration of the crisis reflected in greater difficulty finding a job and high inflation rates, says Executive Manager at CNI's Research and Competitiveness Unit Renato Fonseca.
As part of the survey, 2,002 people were heard across 141 municipalities from 18 to 21 June, 2015.
